Finca “Los quintos de San Martín” and new owner Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan

May 2016 : Mansour bin Zayed, also Deputy PM of the United Arab Emirates and a member of its royal family, has purchased a ‘modest’ €55 million hamlet in Extremadura.

The estate, Los Quintos de San Martin in Badajoz, is larger than 8,000 football pitches and comprises 14 separate cortijos, partridges and 8,000 sheep.

Sheikh Mansour is already making his presence felt in the local community, applying for permissions for a 2.5km-long aircraft landing strip and a dam in the Rio Matachel, also making plans for a Halal slaughterhouse and transportation for meat back to the Arab world.

The 8,200-hectare estate is located in the municipality of Valencia de las Torres, a town in the south of the province of Badajoz with around 700 inhabitants.

The asking price was 55 million euros, but the sales price is not confirmed said the mayor of the town, Valentín Pérez.

Manchester City owner since 2008, Mansour bin Zayed, is the eleventh son of Emir Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyad (1918-2004), first president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The acquired farm is called “Los quintos de San Martín”

The farm consists of a total of 14 farmhouses and give work to a minimum of 30 people.

The first reforms focus on the main house, where Mora-Figueroa resided when they visited the farm.

Mansour bin Zayed has already asked permission to build a small helipad.

Juan Carlos I, Emilio Botín, Los Albertos and some sheikh has hunted on the land in the past.

“Los quintos de San Martín” has so far been owned by the Mora-Figueroa family, which dedicated the exploitation of it to sheep and hunting, mainly.

It was owned by the Jerez Mora-Figueroa Domecq family, fifth fortune of Andalusia, estimated by Forbes magazine at 800 million euros. They are the former owners of the Domecq winery .

They Still own the large estate of Las Lomas, in Cádiz, as well as the largest orange processing plant in the Guadalquivir Valley, Surfruit, in Seville.

Sheikh Mansour (“The Victor”, in Arabic) bin Zayed Al Nahyan.Plays polo every summer in Sotogrande – the Mora-Figueroa are the owners of the Santa María Polo Club.So maybe this was maybe where the deal was made.
